Bishop Eldon B Schuster Council 1493

What We Do

Faith, Family, Commuity, Life
These are just a small sample of the things our council does!

Special Olympics

Our council supports Special Olympics both with time and donations.   During the State Summer Games in Great Falls with the help of knights and their families from the local area we served meals to nearly 1500 Athletes, Coaches and Staff.

Catholic Schools

We provide support to our local Catholic Schools.   Our Lady of Lourdes’ parish and school in Great Falls Celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes on 11 February to draw attention to their patroness’ guidance and blessings.   After the school Mass led by the 4th & 5th grade students, Our Lady of Lourdes' School presented the Annual Appreciation Award to the Knights of Columbus Council 1493 for their service and support to both our school and parish.

Tootsie Roll Drives

Our annual Tootsie Roll Drives are used to fund donations to Special Olympics, Easter Seals and Eagle Mount.   These Great Organizations enrich the lives of everyone they serve!   This campaign gives everyone the opportunity to recognize the dignity of every person.

Youth

Each year the council holds the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship for boys and girls from the ages of 9 to 14 to provide an athletic outlet and encourage the values of sportsmanship and healthy competition.   Kids compete within their own gender and age.   Winners at the council level progress to district and state competitions.

Life

The council supports Pro-Life.   Our council raised the funds to purchace the untra-sound machine for Echoz Pregnacy Center. We continue to provide support for the center.

Faith

Members of our council actively support our Priests and our parishes.   We serve as lectors, extraordinary ministers, ushers, greeters and contribute manpower for cleaning and maintenance of the facilities.   As one priest says “Need something done, Ask a Knight!”

Family

Each summer the council designates one week as Family Week.   During this week we start by hosting a Family Swim Night at the Electric City Water Park for all Knights and their families.   Admission is free.   We just ask you to bring a non-perishable food item for the local food bank.   The week ends with a family picnic in the park.

Community

Coats For Kids

Where there is a need, there is a Knight! That was on full display when Great Falls Councils 1493 and 9395 distributed new coats, warm socks, mittens, hats and gloves to those ill prepared to endure the Montana winter weather.   Over one hundred were fitted with warm clothing. This year we distributed over 2000 coats to communities around Great Falls.
